ASB Report August 2019:
Jaynell Mora
Public Relations Coordinator
5 September 2019
Position Assessment
As Public Relations Coordinator I have done spirit counts and passed out candy for Friday dress up dress along with club rush week. I have also been communicating with the underclassman in grading their assigned social media posts. Lastly, I have partaken in updating our calendar each month and making sure it is posted on the bulletin board outside the attendance office.
Standing Committees
My standing committee is Publicity and Spirit and we make sure we have been pushing out school information, such as dress up days. Our goal is to get to choosing a staff member that has gone above and beyond to spirit bomb them. Because of the fast pace half month of school August was overlooked but myself and my committee should get to it this month and each one following.
Special Committees
The special committee I was apart of was the Black Light Fall Sports Rally. Upon Natalie’s directions I volunteered to write and submit an announcement for the rally and gathered the tissue boxes needed for one of the games played. I also helped with set up and clean up.
Concerns
A concern I’d like to address is finding time to read and really understand Dare To Lead. Watching Brene Brown’s Ted Talks in class is far easier than settling down to read because personally I like it completely quiet when I read.
Positive Comment
For my positive comment I’d like to acknowledge Natalie for coordinating everything for the Black Light Rally. To see Morty have absolutely full trust in her because her work ethic is incredible is something we all can look up to. Another positive thing I noticed was the willingness of the class to volunteer their time. Like when Lydia offered to pick up spirit counts last week or Bryan selling pride tribe shirts during the volleyball game.
Change
One change I'd like to see it more interaction between the class especially upper and lower class men. I think we're just accustomed with sitting and socializing with our own class.
My Impact
I wouldn’t say I’ve changed the world but I can say I’ve impacted my peers on campus. This last month I met Edith, a foreign exchange student from Belgium. I offered to eat with her one day at lunch because she was by herself and I’m so glad I did. She was so cool and interesting. This reminded me of our core principle “to be mindful of “self’” because if I were in Edith’s shoes I know I wouldn’t want to feel alone in a new school, especially in another country. Overall, I’m glad I made a new friend while helping Edith feel comfortable in her new environment.

ASB September & October Report
Jaynell Mora
Public Relationship Coordinator
24 October 2019
Position Assessment
As Public Relations Coordinator I have and done spirit counts and passed out candy for Friday dress up days along with Homecoming, College Spirit Day, our first Letterman Jacket Day, and our Pink-Out Day for Breast Cancer Awareness. Even though I have participated in all dress up days I have taken note that I need to go above and beyond in spirit.
My committee has failed to complete this thus far but I have talked to Bryan Ochoa and since then, he has made a group chat I am in to discuss future plans. ACE of the Month is my second Standing Committee I partaken in for the month of September. Kassidy Isham and I split the nominations and article for the September ACE by student and staff member. I had to choose a staff member so I reviewed the teacher nominations and narrowed it down by the amount of votes and the thoroughness of the explanation. I ended up picking Mr. Wright so I scheduled time aside to interview him and to take a picture for the article.
Special Committees
The first Special Committee I participated in towards the end of September was Homecoming. I helped set up class decorations for the front of the school, the night rally, and the candidate speech rally. I was slightly apart of the Special Committee for Kyoto. I wasn’t able to make it to the initial welcome in front of the school due to work but I did request the day off for the banquet. I bought Spanish Rice my mom cooked to contribute to the potluck of cultural food. The Tri Tip Fundraiser is another Special Committee I’m in and it is still ongoing but for now I have sold tickets and went with Carmen with a PO to purchase packaging, chips, trash bags, and chips at Smart and Final. Community Service hours were also due so I turned in a total of 10 hours ranging from service from the recycling center, lawn mowing, and painting.
Concerns
A concern I’d like to address is finding time to read and really understand Dare To Lead. Watching Brene Brown’s Ted Talks in class is far easier than settling down to read because personally I like it completely quiet when I read. Another concern would be the “unassigned assigned” seating arrangement in class. I personally want to get to know more of the classmates but groups of close friends already sit next to each other in class.
Positive Comment
My positive comment goes to our Momma Bear, Morty. I just appreciate the introduction Morty has given me to the awareness of gratitude and being a genuine person. It is so easy to work for someone when they work hard themselves. Even conversing outside of the classroom is a simple enjoyment I cherish.
Change
One change I'd like to see it more interaction between the class especially upper and lower class men. I think we're just accustomed with sitting and socializing with our own class.
My Impact
It’s difficult to measure if I’ve made a great enough impact on campus but what I know I’ve contributed is the ability to actively listen to my peers and allow myself to participate in classroom discussions. I believe in myself doing this, the class takes a step forward in being a more inclusive atmosphere for vulnerability. The Core Principle “Not just friends, family” connects to my impact as I passively dig deeper to strike meaningful connection.

ASB November and December Report
Jaynell Mora
Public Relations Coordinator
16 December 2019
Position Assessment
As Public Relations Coordinator I have and done spirit counts and passed out candy for Friday dress up days along with , Dude Be Nice Week,, Warm and Fuzzy Week, and College Spirit Days. I have also been communicating with the underclassman in grading their assigned social media posts for events such as Winter Formal, Talent Show Auditions, Holiday Night Rally, etc. Most recently, Kassidy and I have filled out a Purchase Order to update supplies needed for the storage room.
Standing Committees
Choosing a staff member for ACE of the Month has been the focus of my standing committees there past 2 months. For the November article, Mr. Derrick was nominated and for the December article, Mr. Patterson was nominated. The most recent poll has very little votes with the maximum amount of votes for staff members being one. I wish more students voted for staff member because they truly don’t get recognized enough. Nevertheless, I enjoy writing the articles on whoever gets chosen.
Special Committees
I’m pretty sure the Tri Tip Fundraiser was back in October but the ASB report for the month was due before then so I will mention the Tri Tip Fundraiser here as one of my special committees. Dude Be Nice week was another of my special committees. I made a thank you card to our Dude, LJ while also handing him flowers in part with the MultiCultural Club. We were also assigned our responsibilities and partners for the Valentine Crew.
Concerns
My concerns for the class is the reliability some students have in others picking up their slack. In other words, finding someone else to do your work for you. I have fallen victim to that with the CASL report. I heavily relied on my group to write the section we were assigned because I had no idea how to approach the topic and I was absent when we worked on it in class and turned it in. This however was a one time thing, others are doing things like this plenty more though.
Positive Comment
The willingness of classmates helping another when workload can be stressful. If someone, including myself, asks for help it is a guaranteed someone will agree to help.
One Change
More people voting for ACE of the Month.

January ASB Report 2020
Jaynell Mora
Public Relations Coordinator
13 February 2020
Position Assessment
As Public Relations Coordinator I have and done spirit counts and passed out candy for Friday dress up days, Winterfest and College Spirit Days. I have also communicated with the underclassmen in grading their assigned social media posts for events such as Winterfest, Match-O-Matics, the Talent Show, and most recently Sadie’s.
Standing Committees
My Standing Committee is ACE of the Month and in January we held nominations for our January ACE of the Month. I read through the individual responses and choose Mr. Perez as the staff’s pick. My partner, Kassidy Isham, had read through student nominations and chose Colin Speed for January’s ACE of the Month.
Special Committees
I assisted in the assembly of the Senior Class Winterfest Cart in the beginning of January. I also was assigned and then completed 25 Valentine Hearts to hang up for Valentine’s Day. The Talent Show was also in January and I showed up to set up, attend and stayed after the event to clean up.
Concerns
One concern I saw during Winterfest was how little people helped our Senior Class Officer team with the cart. We see we’ll be punished or that you are aware who doesn’t participate, but there’s never any repercussions that follow. It’s just something we should keep an eye on because it will just make it seem okay to not help.
Positive Comment
There has been a substantial amount of work days which is appreciated and helped finish assignments ahead of its due date.
One Change
Same as last months; to get the school more involved in voting for ACE of the Month. I was thinking of awarding each nominee with a certificate each month so they truly feel the recognition and understand the importance.
My Impact
As my proposal has already been turned in for my Elder Project and we’ve started watching other Elders present in class I’ve begun to think what’s the best way for me to leave my impact on campus and how it will connect to my character out of high school. I want to put a lot of effort towards my project, it just finding the time to do it might be difficult.
